Repsol Chairman Antonio Brufau today received the award granted to the Repsol Guide for its commitment to Spanish gastronomy and its unconditional support to the sector for over 30 years. The award was presented by the Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón at the Madrid Fusión event, a forum which brings together the most important and well-known chefs and professionals in international cookery, and which spreads awareness of Spanish gastronomy on the global stage.
At the same event, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, Antonio Brufau and Rafael Ansón, Chairman of the Spanish Royal Academy of Gastronomy, also recognised the work of the 21 chefs which this year obtained the highest classification of 3 Soles that the Repsol Guide grants to the best chefs in Spain, awarding them a certifying sculpture, designed by Alberto Corazón, for their work and their daily effort.
In total, 21 restaurants are highlighted in the 2010 edition for their excellence at the stove, a record number to which 7 establishments have been added in comparison with the previous edition. This demonstrates the good stage at which Spanish gastronomy is at, being included in the top positions on the global gastronomy map.
The 7 new additions are: Casa Gerardo in Prendes (Asturias), Las Rejas in Las Pedroñeras (Cuenca), Hispania in Arenys de Mar (Barcelona), Vía Veneto in Barcelona, Diverxo in Madrid and two more in the Basque country, Zuberoa Oiartzun in Guipúzcoa and Etxebarri Atxondo in Vizcaya.
