What is RPA?

How does RPA work?

Robotic Process Automation works through software robots or "bots" that replicate human actions in digital interfaces. But how does this technology work that allows us to automate repetitive tasks?

This is the basic operating process of RPA:

  1. Identification of tasks: the first step is to identify repetitive and rule-based tasks that can be automated. For this purpose, an exhaustive analysis of existing processes is carried out, determining which are suitable to be delegated to software robots.
  2. Robot design: once the tasks have been identified, we proceed to the design of the software robot that will execute them. This stage involves defining the steps the robot must follow, the tools it will use, and the interfaces with which it will interact.
  3. Development: the software robot is developed by using specific tools for RPA. These tools allow us to create robots without the need for advanced programming knowledge.
  4. Implementation: once created, it is ready to go into operation. The software robot is configured, tested, and trained to operate correctly in the production environment, ensuring its adaptation to the company's processes and systems.
  5. Monitoring and maintenance: it is important to constantly monitor and maintain the bot. This ensures its correct functioning and its adaptation to possible changes in the processes or systems.

  • Sample and equipment transport: a logistics robot transports samples and equipment between the warehouse and the Tech Lab laboratories, reducing the time and effort dedicated to this task.
  • Uninterrupted operation: two collaborative robotic arms operate the pilot lubricant base plant 24 hours a day, increasing its capacity by up to five times and optimizing production.
  • Improved safety and efficiency: a five-axis robotic arm opens and closes the reactors in the pilot refining plant, improving safety by minimizing worker exposure.
  • Automation of repetitive tasks: two robotic arms prepare samples and perform chemical analysis in the pilot refining plant, freeing technicians to focus on more complex tasks that require their expertise and specialized knowledge.
