ESPADIN - Data Spaces in Industry (ESPAcios de Datos en la INdustria)
The ESPADIN project gives a technological response to the interoperability, governance, and security of data spaces.
The aim of the ESPADIN project is to research solutions that enable secure, sustainable, and connected data environments.
The ESPADIN consortium is defined as the collaborative technological drive dedicated to bringing the sharing and exploitation of the value of data into the industrial practices under the paradigm of the so-called shared data spaces. To this end, ESPADIN will work on three main pillars: the quality, availability, and reliability of the data.
ESPADIN cloud based on the Gaia-X architecture, open, federated, and interoperable alongside Repsol's ARiA platform. The European initiative Gaia-X allows the creation of an open, federated, and interoperable cloud-based data infrastructure, built on the values of digital sovereignty and availability of data, and the promotion of the Data Economy, for use in the industrial sector.
ESPADIN thus intends to give a response from the technological point of view to the interoperability, governance, and security/reliability of data spaces, promoting their use in the industrial sector, which will benefit the sector through more efficient operations, maximize the availability of the operations network, and improve access to smart supply chains by SMEs.
Moreover, these more efficient value chains will improve the diversity of suppliers, will increase the participation of SMEs in the exploitation of their production data, and will bring customized manufacturing closer to the SME and companies in general. This improvement in production and coordination will have a positive impact on the environment by enabling more shared production, smart supply chains, etc.
This project, ESPADIN, is being funded by the CDTI Innovation - Spanish Center for Technological Development and Innovation, Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation; Spanish Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan; and the European Union, through the #NextGenerationEU funds.
